It is a general 250 beds hospital and the only one in\nthe Antwerp province with a burn ICU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hospital has a 12 bed surgical intensive\ncare unit (ICU), a 12 beds medical ICU and a 07 beds burn unit that together\nadmits around 1,000 patients per year. Due to the poor neighborhood surrounding\nthe hospital, the ICU also receives many cases of intoxications, aggressions,\nshooting and stab wounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hospital is in full preparation for the\nJCI accreditation but did not have a software for ICU quality and performance\nindicators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Solution<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Epimed Monitor ICU software was implemented\nat ZNA Stuivenberg in September 2017 and is being used by the whole ICU team,\nincluding the medical residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Results<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The ICU now is able to generate in\nreal-time the main ICU quality and performance indicators as well as perform\nqualified benchmarking with other Belgian ICUs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first analyses showed that the ZNA\nStuivenberg ICU has a very good clinical performance. In Dr. Niels own words:\n\u201cWe are very happy that for the first time we get a view of what we are doing\nhere, no hospital tool that we had available until this time could offer us\nthis. We felt that we did a good job, but did not have any figures to support\nit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the ICU now can use the indicators for strategic decisions. As Dr. Niels said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> We also use the data for future projects, strategies and policy makers. Epimed figures are perfect for this as we can better substantiate the needs that we have.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Testimonials<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe biggest win after introducing the\nsystem, is that we can now convince colleagues, managers, project leaders, that\nwe have a good performance.
