However, it is possible to get a different impression when considering sepsis data separately. On the other hand,<br \/>\nwe must think that, behind every primary diagnosis of pneumonitis, urinary tract infection, surgical site infection, and peritonitis, among others that reach the ICU, there is sepsis.<br \/>\nTrials carried out in Brazil and the Brazilian ICUs project\u00a0 &#8211; www.utisbrasileiras.com -, the largest national registry of ICU patients in the world, support this statement with data. According to the SPREAD trial, sepsis mortality in Brazil remains at around 50% and there are no substantial differences between public and private Intensive Care Units.
