{"id":37156,"date":"2023-09-21T10:58:02","date_gmt":"2023-09-21T13:58:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.epimedsolutions.com\/?post_type=material_educativo&#038;p=37156"},"modified":"2023-09-21T10:58:02","modified_gmt":"2023-09-21T13:58:02","slug":"mental-health-and-post-covid","status":"publish","type":"material_educativo","link":"https:\/\/www.epimedsolutions.com\/en\/educational_materials\/mental-health-and-post-covid\/","title":{"rendered":"[Infographic] Mental health and post Covid: how the pandemic impacted the health of patients, families, and healthcare professionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-37157 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.epimedsolutions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Post-Mental-health-and-post-Covid.png\" alt=\"Post-Mental-health-and-post-Covid.png\" width=\"346\" height=\"356\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The pandemic had a great emotional impact on patients, families, and healthcare professionals, who had to deal with fear, professional instability, long working hours, lack of socialization, and high levels of stress.<br \/>\nWith that in the mind, in the month of the Yellow September campaign, we prepared an infographic to clarify this issue of paramount importance in the post Covid scenario.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is PICS?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Post Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) characterizes disabilities that permeate the individual&#8217;s physical, cognitive, or psychological field, and may persist for a few months or years after discharge from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).<\/p>\n<p><strong>PICS Features<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ICU-acquired weakness<\/strong> (ICUAW)<\/p>\n<p>It is muscle weakness developed during an ICU admission and occurs in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>33% of all patients on ventilators;<\/li>\n<li>50% of all patients admitted with a serious infection, known as sepsis;<\/li>\n<li>Up to 50% of patients remain in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) for at least a week;<\/li>\n<li>Patients who develop ICUAW can take more than a year to fully recover. ICU-acquired weakness makes daily activities difficult, including hygiene, dressing, eating, bathing, and walking. Such a disease can also significantly delay the patient&#8217;s resumption of normal activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cognitive dysfunction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Problems related to remembering, paying attention, solving problems, organizing, and working on complex tasks.
