El hospital es acreditado por la JCI y es muy conocido por su especialidad en enfermedades card\u00edacas y por el uso de la cirug\u00eda rob\u00f3tica en \u00e1reas como urolog\u00eda y ginecolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El hospital tiene una unidad de cuidados intensivos generales (UCI) con 24 camas, con alrededor de 1.800 internaciones al a\u00f1o. El jefe de la UCI es el Dr. Koen De Decker, y el equipo m\u00e9dico est\u00e1 compuesto por 30 m\u00e9dicos intensivistas que usan un sistema de gesti\u00f3n de datos del paciente para gestionar las prescripciones diarias y los par\u00e1metros cl\u00ednicos de los pacientes. Aunque la UCI de OLV Aalst tenga un sistema de gesti\u00f3n de datos, no es f\u00e1cil gestionar indicadores de calidad y desempe\u00f1o en la UCI. Adem\u00e1s, el hospital no posee recursos para benchmarking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Soluci\u00f3n<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Se invit\u00f3 la UCI a participar del piloto del Proyecto MICA [Monitoring Intensive Care Activities (Monitoreo de Actividades de Terapia Intensiva)] en 2017. El Proyecto MICA busca fomentar el uso de indicadores de calidad y desempe\u00f1o en UCIs belgas y, as\u00ed, mejorar la calidad de la medicina intensiva y aumentar la seguridad del paciente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resultados<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>La experiencia con el uso del software Epimed Monitor UCI fue tan buena que el hospital decidi\u00f3 usarlo en car\u00e1cter permanente. Como dijo el Dr. De Decker: \u201cAhora tenemos una visi\u00f3n mejor que no ten\u00edamos antes y calculamos, en tiempo real, muchos indicadores, como la tasa de mortalidad estandarizada\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, de acuerdo con el Dr. De Decker, el equipo m\u00e9dico consider\u00f3 el software Epimed Monitor UCI necesario, valioso y f\u00e1cil de usar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inicialmente, el software Epimed Monitor estaba integrado al software administrativo del hospital, y ahora se est\u00e1 integrando al sistema de gesti\u00f3n de datos.
