B\u00e1sicamente, existen tres tipos de indicadores basados en la categorizaci\u00f3n de Donabedian (Donabedian 1978):<br \/>1. Estructura: describe la organizaci\u00f3n, las instalaciones y el personal. A menudo presenta aspectos que se pueden mejorar con mayores inversiones;<br \/>2. Proceso: describe el proceso de atenci\u00f3n entre el cuidador y el paciente. Por lo general, depende de qu\u00e9 aspectos de la atenci\u00f3n son m\u00e1s f\u00e1ciles de cambiar;<br \/>3. Resultado: describe el resultado, a menudo a nivel del paciente. En \u00faltima instancia, es el indicador m\u00e1s importante.<br \/>El primer paso para evaluar el desempe\u00f1o de la UCI es definir los indicadores que deben ser monitoreados. En segundo lugar, garantizar la recopilaci\u00f3n y el <br \/>almacenamiento en una base de datos cl\u00ednica. Hay varias disponibles.
