How can data help in the management of my ICU?

How can data help in the management of my ICU

Recent studies demonstrate the potential of using data to implement measures aimed at reducing healthcare costs and, at the same time, improving the quality of care. The best risk assessment and clinical profile of ICU patients through the management of clinical data generates viable goals for improving the critical patient care process and improving information records.

Despite the increasing worldwide adoption of electronic patient records (EPR), not all institutions are using their full potential with highly granular and sequential data acquired in EPR to improve care quality.

In the ICU we have multiple sources of information generated by healthcare professionals, consolidating data from patient monitoring systems, bed equipment (i.e., infusion pumps, dialysis machines) and other hospital IT solutions. With the emergence of Big Data and data based healthcare, we highlighted many opportunities and unprecedented challenges to operationalize the management of the ICU based on clinical information.
