e-book: Strategies for optimizing incident management at healthcare institutions

Studies estimate that, in developed countries, healthcare incidents, and adverse events (AE), in particular, affect between 4% and 16% of hospitalized patients.
Incidents in healthcare are extremely complex as a range of factors related to the care can contribute to increased risks, failures, and the occurrence of incidents, and it is necessary to identify and deal with the risks to which patients are subject.
How incidents are managed is directly related to the construction of a safety culture in which notification, as well as investigation and dealing with an incident, should be viewed as a learning mechanism to prevent further occurrences.
For this culture to advance, the institution as a whole needs to be involved. Thus, the concepts will be disseminated throughout all levels, from top management to operational levels, aiming to prevent the occurrence of incidents and strengthen patient safety improvements in healthcare services.
The e-book “Strategies to optimize incident management at healthcare institutions” presents strategies to support the dissemination of patient safety culture and prevent harm resulting from healthcare through opportune management of incidents.
